Description
Very interesting model 1873 sn:199790B dates it around 1886 year of production. Firearm is in excellent working condition, mechanically very low use and wear. 20″ octagonal barrel. All metal has browned with age there are shallow freckles of pitting on most of the metal. There are some marks around the rear sight, appears to have been removed at one point. Bore has strong rifling, some evidence of pitting in areas. About 50% of the screw heads are crisp and un-touched, the rest show evidence of a slipped screwdriver. The wood shows many light handling marks for its age, mostly light dents and scratches. There is one deeper chip on the left side of the forend about the dia of a eraser and a 1/32″ deep. Possible early varnish added to stock, doesn’t appear to have ever been sanded as the wood is nice and flush with the metal. Small crack developing on left side of the forend near the top. The brass lift has some scratches across the top along with “KILL DEER” carved under the caliber marking.
